چکیده

This study aimed to test the role of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in responses regarding nitric oxide- (NO) and sulfur (S)-mediated improvement photosynthesis growth under cadmium (Cd) stress mustard (Brassica juncea L. cv. Giriraj), integrate mechanisms S, nitrogen (N), antioxidant metabolism. The plants grown with Cd (200 mg kg−1 soil) exhibited reduced assimilation S N diminished photosynthetic performance, which was associated higher accumulation-induced excess reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. application 100 μM sodium nitroprusside (SNP, a NO donor) together more prominent concentration resulted increased S- N-use efficiency, production non-protein thiols phytochelatins, efficiency enzymatic (superoxide dismutase, ascorbate peroxidase, glutathione reductase), non-enzymatic antioxidants (ascorbate glutathione) limiting accumulation and, thus, oxidative radical, peroxide, thiobarbituric acid content). benefit manifested through modulation H2S use hypotaurine (HT; scavenger) or cPTIO (2-4-carboxyphenyl-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide) treated plus reversed action reduction HT, suggesting that plays significant NO- S-mediated alleviation stress. interplay ES may be used augmenting Cd-grown plants.

Ethylene Potentiates Sulfur-Mediated Reversal of Cadmium Inhibited Photosynthetic Responses in Mustard

The potential of exogenous ethylene and sulfur (S) in reversal of cadmium (Cd)-inhibited photosynthetic and growth responses in mustard (Brassica juncea L. cv. Pusa Jai Kisan) were studied. Plants grown with 50 μM Cd showed increased superoxide and H2O2 accumulation and lipid peroxidation together with increased activity of 1-aminocyclopropane carboxylic acid synthase (ACS) and ethylene product...

Vasodilatory effects of nitric oxide, hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide in rats: Time-dependent interaction study

The vasodilator response of nitric oxide (NO), hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) were studied todetermine the significance of the actions and interactions of these gasotransmitters for controlling aortic tone in rats. The isometric tension of five separate sets of experiments was recorded. Sodium nitroprusside (SNP; NO donor), sodium disulphide (Na2S; H2S donor), SO2 derivatives a...

Nitric Oxide Alleviates Salt Stress Inhibited Photosynthetic Performance by Interacting with Sulfur Assimilation in Mustard

The role of nitric oxide (NO) and sulfur (S) on stomatal responses and photosynthetic performance was studied in mustard (Brassica juncea L.) in presence or absence of salt stress. The combined application of 100 μM NO (as sodium nitroprusside) and 200 mg S kg(-1) soil (S) more prominently influenced stomatal behavior, photosynthetic and growth performance both in the absence and presence of sa...
